Opera Mini Tips and Tricks

If you've been reading this blog for a while I'm sure you've noticed that I'm a big fan of Opera Mini, it's my favorite mobile browser. The first thing I do when I get a new phone is install Opera Mini on it. It seems like a lot of other people like Mini too.  GetJar reports that it's the most downloaded Java ME application of all time.  According to Opera, Mini has 21 million active users, more than the total number of iPhones or Nokia N95s sold to date.
Although Opera Mini is a great browser it's not always easy to install and configure.  There are also a lot of neat features that aren't obvious including some undocumented ones.  This is the first in a planned series of "Opera Mini Tips and Tricks" posts on Wap Review.  I recommend reading Opera's own official  Opera Mini FAQ and user forum first.  However, no one document can cover every potential issue or question.  I hope these posts will serve as a helpful addition to the official docs.
I'm going to start at the beginning, installing Opera Mini.  Opera's download sites, both the mobile and PC versions seem to confuse many users so here's a little FAQ on installing Opera Mini

** Double Click Limit reservable bandwidth
** Now in Setting Tab

It says : Not Configured
Reality : The Explain Tab says "By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection"

** So, on Setting Tab select Enabled
** Now, change Bandwidth limit (%) to 0 (Zero)

Misconcept : This don't means that you won't be able to communicate with Microsoft or any its services !!!
Actually : This reserved Bandwidth is only to accelerate Microsoft internet connections more than other connections !!!

Access Your Folders as Drives

You can create Virtual Drives in your Computer. Now you can access your Favorite Folders as a drive in My Computer.

What you can do ?

** Access your folders as a Drive !

** Fool 'Computer Beginners' or your 'Friends' (Non-Expert) , as the drive will show Disk Space of the folder's drive so it seems that the disk space has increased !!!

Do The Follwing :

► Start >> Run

► Type cmd and hit Enter

► This will open "Command Prompt"

► Type subst Z: E:\folder and hit Enter key.

→ You can replace Z: with your desired New Drive Letter (Except existing Drive letters)!

→ You can replace E:\folder with the path of your favorite folder !

► Now, type exit

9. Using the '?' sign :
This is used when the full spelling of the word is not known.
For Eg:

This will result that in the results in which any alphabet can take the place of '?' sign.

10. Use of boolean operators :
The boolean operators like AND,OR,NOT can be used in search box to connect the words !
The search engine understands them as what they mean but the must be in capital letters !

Single Click ' Shut Down ' !

Actually, shutting down means closing all the applications running on the computer, even the operating system. For this an shut down application is meant. When you traditionally shut down your pc (Start>Turn Off Computer>Turn Off) it actually runs this shut down application.

Windows 98 Credits With Music

1. Using your mouse, right-click an empty spot on your Windows desktop.

2. Select New, Shortcut.

3. Select Browse and find the C:\Windows\Application Data\Microsoft\Welcome folder.

4. Select Weldata.exe by double-clicking the file. The file name will appear at the end of your

shortcut's command line.

5. Click Next.

6. Click Finish to save your shortcut.

7. Right-click your newly created shortcut and select Properties.

8. Be careful: Click the Shortcut tab.

9. In the Target field, scroll to the end of the command line, (right after "...Weldata.exe"), add a space after the quotation mark, and then add this exact string of characters: You_are_a_real_rascal.

Do the following :

1. Open a new Word 2000 document.

2. Type Bill Ggates

3. Choose Help, Show the Office Assistant.

4. You need to get Rocky(The Dog).If you don't have Rocky as your default, right-click on the assistant icon, highlight Choose Assistant, and click Next until Rocky shows up. (You may need to insert your Office 2000 CD at this point.)

5. Run Word's spelling checker by clicking the ABC icon in the toolbar, and watch Rocky react to his boss's name.

6. If Rocky doesn't do something cute the first time, perform the spelling check a few times.

You need: Microsoft Word 97, 2000, or Word 2002

Do the following :

1. Word, select Tools, AutoCorrect. In the dialog box that appears, is the Replace text as you type box checked? If it isn't, check that box. Now you're ready to go.

2. Open a new document and type =rand().

3. Press Enter.

4. Watch the sequence of sentences appear, feel a chuckle coming on, and try to make sense of the repetitive text.

5. Experiment and change the amount of text by adding different digits, say, =rand(15,22) or =rand(50,50).

6.Watch the mysterious text appear again and feel more chuckles coming on.

There is an interesting fact about Headphones i.e. they can also be used as a microphone !
Technically :
There is not much difference between the circuits of a Microphone and a Headphone , just the headphone is designed to spread voice and an microphone to capture the voice !

Working :
So if you connect the headphone in the microphone slot of your computer, you could use it as a microphone.
Just speak in the ear buds of the microphone, but please speak a bit loudly to be audible at the other end !

Disable Windows® Messenger in Windows® XP Pro

If you're running Pro, you can use GPEDIT.MSC to prevent Messenger from loading. Otherwise, even disabling it in startup won't cause it to "always" not run. Outlook, OE and some MS web pages can still make it load.

1) Start, Run and enter GPEDIT.MSC
2) For "per machine" restriction, go to Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Messenger
For "per user" restriction, go to User Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Messenger
3) You can now modify whether it starts initially and/or whether its to run at all.

Note: Outlook and Outlook Express will take longer to open, unless you turn off Messenger Support. In Outlook Express its in Tools, Options, General tab. In Outlook its in Tools, Options, Other. One additional Registry edit is needed to prevent a serious delay in opening OE if you use the Contacts Pane and have disabled or removed Messenger.

Lock Your Folders !

You can lock and unlock your folder with this simple trick !

Procedure :
1. Make a folder on the desktop and name it as "folder"
2. Now, open notepad and write ren folder folder.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} and now (Notepad Menu) File>save as.
3. In the 'save as' name it as lock.bat and click save ! (Save it on Desktop)
4. Now, again open notepad again and write ren folder.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} folder and now (Notepad Menu) File>save as.
5. In the 'save as' name it as key.bat and click save ! (Save it on Desktop)
6. Now, double click lock.bat to lock the folder and now if you open your folder, control panel will open up !
7. Now, double click key.bat to open the folder and now if you open your folder, you can access your data inside the folder again !
8. Lock your folder and hide the key.bat somewhere else on your hard disk !
9. Whenever you want to open your folder just paste the key.bat on desktop and open your folder using it !

Block Or Unblock Websites without software !

Many times in schools, colleges & offices surfing some sites like orkut,etc are banned !

To overcome this you can unblock these or block some other websites and play pranks !

Do The Following :

For eg you want to block www.xyz.com !

* Open the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

* There you will find a file named HOSTS

* Click on the file and press SHIFT and now right click on it .

* From the right click menu select Open with .

* Now, select Notepad to open the file from the list !

* Now, in the file under the line 127.0.0.1 localhost add another line as 127.0.0.2 www.xyz.com.

* Now, File>>Save !

Now, open your web browser and try openning www.xyz.com , it will not load !

To unblock sites just do the opposite !

Make Your Own Icons In Windows XP !

Now even personalize your ICONS with Windows XP !

To make your own ICON :

1. Start>>All Programs>>Accessories
2. Click Paint
3. In toolbar select Image
4. Click Attributes

5. Type 32 in both Height and Width and sure that Pixels is selected under Units
6. Click OK
7. Now add your photo or design .

Add Folder To - "SEND TO"

Many a times we require a FOLDER too often, like to store our Multimedia files and all !!!
No no need to access the folder and carry out the traditional COPY & PASTE !!!

Just add it too "SEND TO" !!!

Do as follows :

** Open any FOLDER.
** Then, TOOLS >> Folder Options
** Click view TAB.
** In LIST of Advance Settings, click Show hidden files and folders !
** Now, go to C:\Documents and Settings
** Here, double click and open your (username) folder !
** Now, open SendTo folder.
** Here copy and paste the shortcut of your favorite folder.

That's Done !!!

Now, tranfer files to your favorite folder :

** Right Click the file
** Then, Send To
** Click the folder name !

Hide Files in Image Files !!!

Sometimes we are eager to hide some files on the system !!!
(I won't ask Why ???)

So, now i have got a trick to hide files in image files !!!

Here it is :

** You require WinRAR installed on your PC for this trick.
** First add your files to .rar and i.e. say files.rar
** Say you have a image as img.jpg
** Now, save files.rar and img.jpg in c:\ drive.
** Click start >> Run
** Type cmd
** Now in command prompt type cd..
** Again type cd..
** Type copy /b img.jpg + files.rar new.jpg

-------------- Please Note --------------

>> This command will concatenate the two files into the new file new.jpg
>> Don't type files.rar + img.jpg instead of img.jpg + files.rar.
>> Now, (size of new.jpg) = (size of img.jpg) + (size of files.rar) .

Now, we have new.jpg consisting of both img.jpg and files.rar .

Accessing the files :

** Double click new.jpg and img.jpg can be viewed.

If u wanna remove any user password from other account

1.Open cmommand promt (run-cmd-return)
2.Type net users.
3. The users on the comp will appear then note the name of the user u want to change.
4.Then type net user name *
e.g. net user administrator *
5.It wil ask u to type the new password.
6.type the new password hit enter.
7.It wil ask u to retype the pasword.
then hit enter and it wil display this command was completed successfully
NOTE:THE PASSWORD TYPED WIL NOT BE SHOWN SO BE CAREFUL WHEN U TYPE.
Livin the password blank and hittin enter would remove the password for the account……

Easy Ways to increase the logon and logoff speed…………

1. The easy way to shutdown the comp is just be click on desktop and then to get the shutdown menu press Alt+F4 and then press ‘u’ in the keyboard thats it.

2. Use of registery cleaner also increases the speed of ur comp. Exclamation

3.HOW TO MAKE UR PC FASTER

Run-SYSEDIT.EXE then open sytem.ini file and scroll to get the line called [386enh]
At that place press enter and then in the nxt line type Irq14=4096
Then save it from file menu and then close
Reboot the comp and the job to increase ur hard drive speed is done

Multiple Yahoo! Logins

Guys you all might not be knowing this that you can now login into to yahoo messenger id’s without using any software …Heres how to do it …

1.Go to run and then type regedit.

2.Natigate to HKEYCURRENTUSER/SOFTWARE/YAHOO/PAGER/TEST.

3.Now, In the right hand plane ,Right click and then create a new DWORD .

4.Name it as Plural,and set its value as 1 .

Now close registery editor and then start yahoo messanger how manay times you want,then login in with different id’s

Speedup Browsing

This tip works with ALL Windows 95/98/NT4/2000/ME/XP/2003 releases AND MS Internet Explorer 4/5/6/7. This Registry fix speeds up internet/remote (using Windows Explorer and/or Internet Explorer) browsing process considerably on most MS Windows 32-bit machines connected to a network/remote computer(s).
This actually fixes a BUG in MS Windows operating System Uses, that scan shared (remote) folders/files across network/s for Scheduled Tasks and Shared Printers, and can add a delay as long as 30 seconds/s, because it uses extra time to search the remote computers (thts very sad). Sad
Note -:Before Performing this make sure all Windows Explorer and MS IE instances are closed.
Then run Regedit and go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionExplorerRemoteComputerNameSpace

In the left hand pane highlight these 2 subkeys:

{D6277990-4C6A-11CF-8D87-00AA0060F5BF} = Scheduled Tasks

and delete them: right-click on each -> select Delete -> click OK.

RECOMMENDED: Export (BACKUP) this Registry key to a REG file FIRST, to be able to restore it (by running the REG file) if necessary. In Regedit: highlight the key name in the left hand pane -> click “Registry” from the menu -> select “Export Registry File…” -> type a file name in the “File name” field -> browse to the destination of your choice -> push the Save button.

This Registry change takes effect immediately.

Don’t PANIC, this worm is a decent worm, which does not destroy your files or damage your computer.
The following steps help you to remove w32.USBworm completely from your system.
First you need to see all the running processes on your system, for that you need to press Alt+Ctrl+Del. This will launch ‘Task Manager’ then click on Process tab to see all the running processes. Then you need to manually search for ’svchost.exe’ (you will find many but you need to carefully select the one which is having ‘User Name’ as your Windows login name). Refer to the below attached picture. After finding the process, right click on the process and click ‘End Process Tree’, and then click on OK. This will kill the running virus on your system.
Now you can happily launch Firefox, Orkut and Youtube
Lets throw the worm out of the computer
To remove the worm completely from your computer, you need to remove Registry keys written by the worm
• 1. Press “Window key” + “r” or go to Start–>Run, then type “regedit” (without quotes).
• 2. You need to navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\ Folder\Hidden\SHOWALL, checkedvalue” And reset the “CheckedValue” key back to 1. This is to show all the hidden files.
• 3. Then navigate to “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer\Run ” and delete the “winlogon” key. — This will stop the worm installing at the start up.

Now you need to search for the worm which is located on your harddisk. For that you need to use the windows search and do the things which shown in the below gif image

Last but not the least,
you need to download disinfectant and then run on your computer to avoid further attack of this worm.
Note: This disinfectant does not remove the worm. You need to manually remove the worm.

Run Movie in MS Paint

Hey all Friends, did you know that you can REALY watch movies in MS PAINT ?

Here’s what you gotta do :

1) Open your favorite movie palyer and play the move (I played the .mpg format in Winamp)

2) Hit “PrintScreen”, keep playing the movie in the player, dont stop it.

3) Open MsPaint.

4) Select “Edit>Paste” Or Hit “CTRL+V”

5) Presto! You can watch movies in Paint!

6) But there are no Pause, Next, Previous, Stop etc. buttons

7) Spead this fact to all your friends and show how COOL things you can do with Paint!
Experiment with other formats too, it doesn’t play DivX , Flash movies, etc.
Microsoft hasn’t revealed this i think. MsPaint is GREAT
try it out in ms word it may work…..
